Icing On The Cake! HBC Receives Brazilian Order Worth Nearly $200M

When Hawker Beechcraft said earlier this year it wanted to strengthen its foothold into international markets… the company wasn’t kidding, or making idle comments. In the early hours of NBAA 2008, HBC announced Brazilian-based L�der Signatures S.A. had ordered 23 aircraft spanning the Hawker Beechcraft product line. L�der, a Hawker Beechcraft dealer and authorized service center since 1996, purchased what is considered to be one of the largest general aviation aircraft orders in Brazilian history with a value estimated at nearly $200 million. The contract was officially signed by L�der CEO Eduardo de Pereira Vaz at NBAA.

“L�der has been a partner with Hawker Beechcraft as a dealer and authorized service center for 12 years. We’ve shared a great relationship with them over the years and it’s a tremendous honor to now receive one of Brazil’s largest-ever orders from this great company,” said Brad Hatt, president, Commercial Sales at Hawker Beechcraft. “There is a large demand in Brazil for our aircraft and we are thrilled that L�der continues to sell our great products. We’ve had an increasing presence in Latin America and our sales team has really elevated HBC as the leader in the region.”

The momentous order consists of three Hawker 4000, two Hawker 900XP, three Hawker 750, five just-announced Hawker 450XPs, one Beechcraft King Air B200GT, four Beechcraft King Air C90GTi, two Beechcraft Baron G58 and three Beechcraft Bonanza G36 aircraft. Deliveries for the 23 aircraft will take place from 2009 to 2011.

The announcement came on the heels of the unveiling of two new aircraft programs… the new Beechcraft King Air 350i, and Hawker 450XP.

I was at a family birthday at the Park, So I took my camera & My RC Airplane.

I didn’t have my proportion set right, so it ended I ended up in a mild Crash. My daughter filmed for me at the family Party.

I took advantage of the crash to film this video for those who are getting into flying & don’t have knowlege of repairs yet. I hope this video will help teach repairs & inspire people to keep up with this great hobby, & to do that You have to be able to fix to stay in the air, or else, no flyin’. This kit assenbles extremely quick & is so simple to do repairs on.
You will need to buy all of you electronics but the kit does come with a geared brushed motor. I added a Brushless Motor & 3 Cell 1350Mah Lipo Cell for performance instead of the Stock brushed Motor. I bought the Battery & Motor from epyaya.com. I Bought my Brushless Kms kbsc18 speed control fom the hobby people website.

I am running a Great Planes Electrifly GP 10 x 4.5 S Prop (or also known as 254 x 114 S).
Great Setup at 10 to 15 Min of flight on a pack.
*I also added a length of 1/16 inch carbon fibre rod to each side of the foam body & covered this over with clear tape, This has increased the airframe structure durability BIG TIME!

Monday afternoon Harrison Ford was on hand to participate in the announcement of the Cessna Citation Special Olympics Airlift.

And finally… not all the activity on the show floor at NBAA 2008 had to do with flashy business aircraft and new gadgets.
Aero-TV had the chance to speak with Amanda Wright Lane, the great-grand-niece of aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright… in front of the newest flying replica of an original 1910 Wright Model “B”.

Some might call this the first business aircraft…

Chelton, S-TEC Merge/Consolidate Strengths

As noted a few weeks ago, there have been big changes at Chelton recently. ANN’s Aero-TV crews caught up with Chelton’s Gordon Pratt at the 2008 AEA Convention and got a little more detail about this means. As previously detailed, the two business units within Cobham’s Avionics and Surveillance Division, Chelton Flight Systems (CFS) and S-TEC, are to be merged to create an “avionics center of excellence” based in Mineral Wells, TX. The move is part of Cobham’s drive to develop a fully integrated cockpit and improve its customer focus.

The newly-integrated business unit will operate under a single management team by the end of 2008, according to Cobham officials. Those representatives add the capabilities of CFS and S-TEC are highly complementary, with products from both businesses certified together on more than 500 aircraft types. Combined, the two businesses have certified equipment and systems on some 2,000 makes/models of fixed and rotary wing aircraft for the general and business aviation markets.

S-TEC was acquired by UK-based Cobham at the beginning of 2008. The company employs 180 people and operates out of a 10-acre engineering and production campus at the Mineral Wells Airport. The S-TEC facility currently has a 57,000 square foot administration, engineering and manufacturing plant and a 28,000 square foot hangar, which houses the company’s flight operations.

“We aim to make this move transparent to our customers and dealers,” said Richard Tyson, President Cobham Avionics & Surveillance. “The only change we expect anyone to see is the introduction of a number of new and exciting integrated avionics systems.”

S-TEC Corporation is a leading avionics manufacturer for the business and general aviation market. Chelton Flight Systems manufactures the world’s first FAA-certified synthetic vision EFIS, which is now STC’d on over 740 airplane and helicopter models.

Corsario MK5 is a 2 seater amphibian ultralight aircraft. It can be equipped with rotax 582 65HP up to Rotax 912uls 100hp. The aircraft in this video is equipped with rotax 582 65 hp. Corsario is a flying boat design with tricycle retractable landing gear. The landing gear, flaps and elevator trim are manually controlled by pushrods. Los Angeles Helicopters conducts a 20 hour vertical reference and 200′ steel long line training course from its facilities at the Long Beach airport and other locations. This video is of the first day of a ten day course. The course begins with pilots learning to fly the aircraft from the left seat while leaning far out of the aircraft, looking rearward (and down) and using the intersection of the rear cross tube and skid as reference — not sitting up and referencing the horizon like originally trained. This training is in preparation for the real-world utility helicopter industry where landing the aircraft in the wilderness on makeshift crisscrossed heliports made usually from logs.

Taining Bell P39 with Patrice Marchasson flying with Nick Grey at Curtiss 75 control, a few days before the huge yearly flying legends warbird airshow.
The Fighter Collection operates, rebuilds and maintains Europe’s largest collection of airworthy WWII aircraft and is based at Duxford Airfield, in the UK.
